The Cardinal Directions Society
A center for resources in the Christian tradition that promote wisdom, beauty, grace, and truth with a generous spirit toward all.
OUR MISSION
The Cardinal Directions Society exists to produce, publish, curate, and promote quality resources and programming that sow wisdom, beauty, grace, and truth into the church and the world with a generous spirit toward all. We are broadly ecumenical and are devoted to helping people live deep, sustainable lives for the sake of God and others in the way of Jesus, whatever their background or vocation. And we are committed to providing spiritual formation and other resources that help people live lives that encompass all four “cardinal directions of the spiritual life”: Living lives upward to God in all things; a commitment to inward, personal transformation; a rooting among the people of God in the “one another” of the Christian church; and an outward active participation with God in his mission in the world. We seek out like-minded authors and others to join us in creating and stewarding resources that equip Christian churches and other communities of good will in keeping with these aims.
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”
James 3:17-18

OUR CORE COMMITMents
12 for 12 Spiritual formation
What is 12-for-12?
12-for-12 is a proven program and curriculum designed to resource churches and others who want to develop holistically formed disciples and leaders in a group context. It is based on the book: 12-for-12: A Practical Guide for a Year of Spiritual Formation in Community, which provides tools and resources for a yearlong group of 8-12 people committed to monthly meetings and deep formational work in between. Each chapter focuses on a central facet of spiritual formation and provides homework assignments for the month, including but not limited to readings, prayer exercises, Scripture engagement, and films. Appendices containing guidelines for spiritual practices, full-color artwork for reflection, a complete month-by-month leader guide, and other resources are also included. 12-for-12 groups are based on the “cardinal directions of the spiritual life:”
